Panthers Conclude 2023-2024 Season with Quevy & Dwyer Qualifying For NCS

October 23, 2023—Following the North Coast Section (NCS) DII Championships that took place at Metropolitan Golf Course in Oakland, CA, the Varsity Girls Golf team concluded their 2023-2024 campaign.

The Panthers wrapped up their season with an overall record of 5-5 and a 5th place finish at the Tri-County Athletic League (TCAL) Championships at Franklin Canyon Golf Course, and with two of team’s members qualifying for the NCS DII Championships—Junior golfer, Brooklyn Dwyer, and Sophomore golfer, Chloe Quevy.

Both Dywer and Quevy had decent championship rounds representing Saint Mary’s at the NCS Championships but were unable to qualify for the NCS DI Championship Event scheduled for next week. Nonetheless, it was a rewarding experience that both golfers can lean on when they return to the Panthers squad for the 2024-2025 campaign. In fact, the Panthers will be returning all 5 players from this season with hopes of bringing home both a TCAL Championship Title and an NCS Championship Title back to Peralta Park. Congratulations golfers on a fun and exciting season.

The Panthers will now turn their attention to the Tri-County Athletic League (TCAL) Championship event. The event is scheduled for Monday, October 16th, at 2:00PM, at Franklin Canyon Golf Course.

October 3, 2023—On a warm afternoon on the golf course at Tilden Park, the Panthers returned to the win column as they would go on to defeat fellow Tri-County Athletic League (TCAL) foe, the Jesse Bethel Jaguars, by the score of 131-167.

The Panthers got quite the performance from all five of their golfers. Junior, Olivia Crawford, with a score of 33; Junior, Brooklyn Dwyer, with a score of 35; Sophomore, Chloe Quevy, with a Tilden Park Golf Course best of 28; Freshman, Mila Sanchez, with a score of 35 as well, and Freshman, Mia Nguyen, with a score of 37. All of these scores were also each golfers’ personal bests on the season.

The Panthers will look to carry this momentum into next week as they will take on their crosstown rival, the Albany High Cougars, on Tuesday, October 10th, at Tilden Park Golf Course. The match is set for 3:30PM.

Panthers Lose League Match to Salesian

The Panthers will now turn the page as they will return to Tilden Park Golf Course this Thursday, September 28th, to take on another longtime rival, the El Cerrito High Gauchos. Tee time is set for 3:30PM.
