Girls Soccer (2024-2025)

Goals By McGhee & Isolani Propel Panthers to NCS Semis

February 22, 2025—Following their dominant and decisive first round victory over the Kelseyville Knights by the score of 8-0, the Varsity Girls Soccer team returned to Brady Park to take on the #7 seeded Berean Christian Eagles in the North Coast Section (NCS) Quarterfinal Round with an opportunity to punch their ticket to the NCS Semifinal Game. The Eagles came into this matchup with a 15-1-1 record and winners of the Diablo Valley Athletic League, making this a highly anticipated showdown.

In the first half of the matchup, goals were hard to come by as both the Panthers and Eagles displayed great defense to prevent each other from generating prime scoring opportunities, causing the game into go into halftime with a 0-0 tie.

However, once the second half started, one opportunity came for fellow Freshman, Zoe McGhee, who would find the back of the net ten minutes into the second half, giving the Panthers the 1-0 lead. Later in the half, Zoe McGhee would find herself, yet again, with another prime scoring opportunity until she was taken down by the Eagles goalkeeper, leading to a penalty kick for the Panthers. Senior, Giuliana Isolani, would be the one to take this penalty kick, which she would ultimately cash in on to give the much-needed insurance the Panthers needed, extending the lead by the score of 2-0.

Following the two second half goals, the Panthers defense would step up to keep the Eagles out of their own zone, and the team would ultimately win the game by the score of 2-0 and clinch their spot in the NCS Semifinal Round. In their two playoff games, the Panthers have outscored opponents 10-0 and will look to carry that trend into Wednesday’s semifinal game where they will play host to the San Rafael Bulldogs here at Brady Park. The Bulldogs come in with an overall record of 14-8 after winning their own quarterfinal game over the El Cerrito Gauchos by the score of 2-1. The match is set for 3:00pm.

Panthers Stamp Ticket to NCS Quarterfinals For 4th Consecutive Year in Dominating Fashion

February 19, 2025—With the Varsity Girls Soccer team looking to leave behind the crushing defeat against the El Cerrito Gauchos that they suffered just over a week ago in the Tri County Athletic League (TCAL) Semifinals, the First Round of the North Coast Section (NCS) Division IV Playoffs proved to be a breath of fresh air as the team would cruise to an 8-0 victory over the Kelseyville Knights on Brady Park.

The Panthers got a variety of scoring from a multitude of players—Talulah Alatorre (1), Lily Stoliartchouk (1), Brianna Coyle (2), Sophia De Loa Ramirez (1), Mae Goldman (1), Mayari Negron-Gonzales (1), and Zoe McGhee (1).

With the victory, the #2 seeded Panthers earned their fourth consecutive trip to the NCS Quarterfinal Round where they will play host to the #7 seeded Berean Christian Eagles of Walnut Creek, California. The Eagles, who have an overall record of 15-1-1, come in off of their first-round victory over the Rancho Cotate Cougars by the score of 2-1, setting up what should be a very good matchup between two solid programs. The match is set for Saturday, February 22nd, at 2:00pm.

#2 Seeded Panthers Lose TCAL Semifinal Matchup vs. Gauchos 2-1

February 11, 2025—With the Varsity Girls Soccer team earning the second seed for the Tri County Athletic League (TCAL) Tournament, they played host against the El Cerrito Gauchos in the Semifinal Round at Brady Park with an opportunity to punch their ticket to the League Championship Round. In two regular season matchups this year, the Panthers beat the Gauchos both times (1-0, 3-1) and were looking to make it three in a row.

However, third time would, unfortunately, not be the charm for the Panthers as the Gauchos would go on to defeat the Panthers by the score of 2-1. The Gauchos controlled most of the game as they would be the ones who would score the first two goals, putting the Panthers in a very tough position to come back from. The Panthers would draw a penalty where they would cash in on to make the score 2-1 with twenty minutes left in the second half. However, the Gauchos defense would turn it up a notch to preserve their one-goal lead until the final whistle blew, giving them the 2-1 victory and an opportunity to play for the TCAL Championship.

For the Panthers, this is the first time after four seasons where they would not be crowned TCAL Champions after winning the league tournament four years in a row. The Panthers will now wait until Sunday, February 16th, to find out what their postseason fate is when the North Coast Section (NCS) comes out with the seedings and brackets.

Senior Day Dominance as Panthers Top Jaguars 9-0

January 30, 2025—On a cold afternoon at Brady Park, the Varsity Girls Soccer team played host to the Jesse Bethel Jaguars in the final home game of the regular season. Also, with this being the final home game of the year, the Varsity Girls Soccer team celebrated Senior Day prior to the start of the game where the team honored 8 of their Senior players—Julia Pele, Ariana Figueroa, Tallulah Alatorre, Giuliana Isolani, Celine Rodriguez, Juliana Walters, Charlotte Ballard, and Romina Clement--for their four years of hard work and dedication to the program.

Once the pregame festivities were wrapped up, the Panthers would have no issues asserting their dominance throughout the matchup as the team would go on to win by the score of 9-0. With the victory, the Panthers finished the regular season with an overall record of 11-3-1, and tie for 1st place in the Tri County Athletic League (TCAL) regular season standings with Albany High School with a 10-1-1 league record.

Now, even though the Panthers earned a share of the regular season league title, the Albany Cougars will enter the TCAL Playoffs next week as the #1 seed while the Panthers will have the #2 seed since they earned the tiebreaker over the Panthers this year. Nonetheless, the Panthers are rolling into the playoffs on a great note and will look forward to winning the TCAL tournament for the fourth consecutive year.

The Panthers will find out when they play their first league playoff game next week. Good luck Panthers.

Panthers Defeat Spartans 2-1 to Stay in Striking Distance of 1st Place in TCAL

January 23, 2025—With the Varsity Girls Soccer team looking to stay in close proximity of the Albany Cougars for first place in the Tri County Athletic League (TCAL) standings. Therefore, a victory of the Pinole Valley Spartans would be pivotal in that regard. In fact, the Panthers would ultimately fulfill that as they would go on to defeat the Pinole Valley Spartans by the score of 2-1, remaining in second place just behind the Cougars who hold the tiebreaker over the Panthers.

The Panthers will now enter the final week of the regular season when they return to Brady Park next Tuesday, January 28th, at 3:15pm when they play host to the De Anza Dons. In their first meeting against the Dons this season, the Panthers went on to defeat the Dons in decisive fashion by the score of 4-0.

Panthers Earn Much Needed Victory Over Gauchos; Stay in Contention for 1st Place in League

January 16, 2025—With the battle for 1st place in the Tri County Athletic League (TCAL) being very closely contested between the El Cerrito Gauchos, Albany Cougars, and Saint Mary’s Panthers, Thursday’s evenings matchup at El Cerrito High School was as important as ever for the Varsity Girls Soccer team as a victory would keep the Panthers within striking distance of the Albany Cougars who currently hold 1st place in the league.

However, even with the major implications of their game against the Gauchos, the moment would not be too much for the Panthers as they would get the massive win they desperately needed, beating the Gauchos by the score of 3-1. The Panthers goals came from Senior, Talullah Alatorre; Sophomore, Sophia De Loa Ramirez; and Freshman, Mayari Negron-Gonzales.

The Panthers now sit atop the league standings with the Albany Cougars for 1st place as both the Cougars and the Panthers both have a 7-1-1 league record. However, the Cougars hold the tiebreaker thanks to their victory over the Panthers this past Tuesday. Nonetheless, this was a much-needed victory that the Panthers would get.

The Panthers will now have a few days off before their next league game where they will travel to Pinole Valley High School to take on the Spartans. The match is set for Thursday, January 23rd, at 6:00pm.

Panthers Dominate in 5-0 Win Over Richmond, Improve to 7-2-1 on the Year

January 9, 2025—On a beautiful day at Brady Park on the campus of Saint Mary’s College High School, the Varsity Girl’s Soccer team played host to the Richmond Oilers for the second time this season. In their first meeting prior to the turn of the new year, the Panthers defeated the Oilers by the score of 5-0. In this second meeting, it would be the exact same result as the Panthers would defeat the Oilers in this second meeting by the same exact score of 5-0.

The Panthers got contributions from a variety of players on their way to this impressive victory, especially from Seniors, Charlotte Ballard and Talullah Alatorre, who would score one goal each. With the victory, the Panthers improve their overall record to 7-2-1, and a Tri County Athletic League (TCAL) record to 6-0-1 which is good for first place in the league.

The Panthers will now have a few days off before returning to TCAL action next week when they hit the road to take on their crosstown rival, the Albany High Cougars, in what should be a very good matchup for first place in the league standings. The match is set for Tuesday, January 14th, at 6:00pm.

Panthers Earn 3rd 1-0 Victory of the Season Over Spartans

December 17, 2024—With the rainy weather finally departing Brady Park, the Varsity Girls Soccer team took to the pitch to take on the Pinole Valley Spartans with hopes of winning their second Tri County Athletic League (TCAL) game of the season.

As most of their games have gone so far this year, the Panthers would find themselves in yet another tightly-contested matchup as sharp defense, sustaining pressure, and ball control would be important factors on who would come away with the victory. However, it would be the Panthers that would cash in on their opportunity as Freshman, Mayari Negron-Gonzales, would find Sophomore, Sophia De Loa Ramirez, on a well-placed pass that De Loa Ramirez would bury in the back of the net, scoring the one and only goal of the match to give the Panthers a 1-0 victory.

The Panthers will now have a few days off before traveling to De Anza High School this Friday, December 20th, where they will take on the Dons in yet another TCAL matchup. The match is set for 6:00pm.

Panthers' Late PK Goal Propels Them Over League Rival Gauchos

December 10, 2024—Following a 0-0 tie in their previous game against the Albany Cougars, the Varsity Girls Soccer team looked to get themselves back in the win column as they hosted the El Cerrito Gauchos in an early, yet pivotal, Tri County Athletic League (TCAL) matchup.

However, in this matchup, generating great scoring changes would be at minimum as both the Panthers and Gauchos displayed tough defenses respectively, making it extremely difficult for both team’s offense to set up in the offense zone. In fact, the teams would be deadlocked at 0-0 until late in the game when the Gauchos committed a penalty in the box that would give Sophomore, Sophia De Loa Ramirez, an opportunity that she would eventually capitalize on, finding the back of the net on her PK attempt and giving the Panthers a 1-0 victory over the Gauchos.

The Panthers will now head into nonleague play as they will travel on the road to take on the Head-Royce Jayhawks. The matchup is scheduled for this Thursday, December 12th, at 3:15pm.

Panthers Win Home Opener Over Oilers in Dominant Fashion

December 3, 2024—In the team’s home opener for their 2024-2025 campaign, the Varsity Girls’ Soccer team was nothing short of spectacular as they would cruise to their home opening win by the score of 5-0 over their Tri County Athletic League rival, the Richmond Oilers.

The Panthers showcased quite a bit of scoring depth as Freshman sensation, Mayari Negron-Gonzales would score two goals on the day. Sophomore, Sophia De Loa Ramirez, would also find the back of the net with her own goal of the afternoon; and the Senior duo of Charlotte Ballard and Talulah Allatore would each score a goal respectively, helping the Panthers earn their 5-0 victory.

The Panthers will now look to extend their early winning streak to three games as they will play host against their longtime crosstown rival against the Albany High Cougars. The match is set for Thursday, December 5th, at 3:15PM.
