Parents
Parents and families are the primary educators of their children
In the Lasallian Catholic Tradition, Saint Mary’s believes that all of our students are children of God. We are committed to partnering with families to support and instill within our students strong values and hope. We believe that parents and the family are the first society that children become a part of long before they integrate into any school or civic / social community. It is the family’s responsibility to be the formators of their children’s faith, identity, values, culture, sexual decisions, etc.
As a partner with parents and families, Saint Mary’s will continue to work at opening the hearts and minds of your children to explore and embrace new concepts and ideals. Saint Mary’s is committed to teaching our students to be empathetic and to learn and understand others who think and look differently than themselves. There is also a special emphasize on understanding and showing compassion for the poor and marginalized in our society.
Students must know that they are loved and cared for at both home and school. They must also know that they will be challenged to open their minds to engage in meaningful experiences and conversations, and will be encouraged to be independent, critical thinkers. Parents should expect that academic subjects will be taught well by the teachers at Saint Mary’s, and that by teaching the whole person our ultimate goal is that students discover and learn to love and care for themselves while showing compassion and empathy towards others.
